With over 20yrs experience in the veterinary nursing industry I have worked as an RVN, Head Nurse, Acting Practice Manager and Clinical Coach (Supervisor), always striving for the perceived 'best practice'.

I have spent the last 14yr in education as a lecturer, course team leader, Curriculum Manager, IQA and EQA in Further Education, an External Examiner in Higher Education and an Associate, Education Consultant and Quality Manager for awarding organisations. 

I am highly experienced in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, enhancement and risk management. 

I undertook professional formation to secure my Chartered and Advanced Teacher Status and QTS. 

I champion and advocate for quality in education and inspire everyone to be their best self through lifelong learning.

I am a dedicated veterinary nurse educator with over 15 years’ experience in

the FE sector. I am passionate about veterinary nurse training and aim to

empower the learners I teach. I have extensive knowledge in teaching and

mentoring learners due to my current role within Bottle Green Training Ltd

(BGT) as a tutor and IQA across 2 different programmes. My knowledge,

approachable attitude and enthusiasm means I have much to offer student

nurses training today. I am currently one of two directors at BGT, I teach and

have an IQA role on the level 3 veterinary nursing apprenticeship award and

the level 2 animal care and welfare award. I have maintained my CPD record,

balancing education, and practical topics since registration.  I have a strong passion for supporting neurodivergent student veterinary nurses from an educational perspective, advocating for accessible, inclusive teaching practices that enable all learners to reach their full potential.

I started work as a Saturday girl in a vets back in 1996. After my A-Levels I

then went on to study BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing Science at Hartpury College (through University

of the West of England). Over the years I have worked in many different types of practice (mixed,

small, equine – first opinion and referral). I have also lectured for many years and been a

pharmaceutical rep.

In my spare time I am an OSCE examiner, I have written exam questions, complete IQA work.

Alongside all of that I have a horse called Archie who I have owned for 9 years, a Working Cocker

Spaniel called Fred who I train every week (who came to me through my work), as well as a cat

called Basil (also a waif and stray from the vets). I am excited to help all of you on your different

journeys with VN Horizons.

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse with over 25 years of hands-on experience in both clinical practice and education. Alongside working in high-pressure environments like emergency and critical care, has spent years lecturing, mentoring students, and supporting learners at all stages of their journey.  

I am passionate about high standards of patient care, evidence-based practice, behaviour, and advocating for the welfare of both animals and the people caring for them.  

My work is shaped by real-world experience, from busy clinical environments to charity work supporting veterinary care in resource-limited settings, giving me a practical, adaptable, and grounded perspective in everything I do.  

I’ve trained and assessed students, written and marked assignments, developed teaching materials, and delivered CPD to both professionals and the public. I understand what learners actually need - not just academically, but in real-world practice.  

I specialise in turning complex information into clear, engaging, and accessible content, whether that’s learning resources, assessments, or client-facing materials. My approach is always practical, supportive, and grounded in real experience.
